German pulse induction engineering built to hold depth and stability when the ground gets difficult.
Lorenz Detecting Systems builds the Deepmax Z2 in Germany around two proprietary systems — Pulse Ground Balancing (Pulse GBS) and Pulse Shaping Technology (PST) — aimed at treasure hunters, archaeologists, and geologists who need to find large targets buried deep rather than small ones buried shallow.
The control housing is CNC-machined from a single block of anodized aluminum, paired with a deliberately simplified LC display, so operating the unit in the field doesn't require memorizing a menu tree. Differential electromagnetic noise cancellation is built in too, which matters if you're working anywhere near power lines or other structures that would otherwise flood a pulse detector with interference.
Coil options run from compact 26cm DD discs suited to coins and gold nuggets up to 1m x 1m frame coils built for long-range detection of bulk metal, cavities, and voids at extended depth — all interchangeable on the same control unit, so the Deepmax Z2 scales from small-target work to bulk searches without switching machines.
Key Features
Pulse GBS Ground Balancing
automatically compensates for mineralized and saline ground, so depth and stability don't drop off as terrain changes underfoot
Pulse Shaping Technology (PST)
refines the shape of the transmitted pulse itself, sharpening sensitivity and extending range on large, deep targets
Interchangeable Coil System
26cm, 35cm, 44cm and 1m x 1m frame coils all run on the same control unit, from coin-sized work up to long-range bulk searches
Differential Noise Cancellation
filters out electromagnetic interference from power lines and nearby structures, which matters when searching close to built-up areas
Rugged Aluminum Control Housing
CNC-machined from a single block of anodized aluminum rather than assembled from plastic, built to take field conditions
Multi-Channel Data Logger (Optional)
records scan data for post-survey 2D/3D mapping and metal-type analysis using Lorenz's Scripter and Surfer software
All-Condition Reliability
holds performance in saltwater and heavily mineralized ground and across a wide operating temperature range

Who Should Use the Lorenz Deepmax Z2?
Long-Range Treasure Hunting
A 14-15 foot depth rating and large frame coil options are built specifically for targets well beyond typical detector range.
Cavity and Void Detection
The 1m x 1m frame coil is sized for locating bulk metal, cavities, and voids rather than small individual targets.
Archaeological Surveys
Differential noise cancellation and stable pulse ground balance keep readings consistent across a large, uneven survey site.
Professional Geological Prospecting
Saltwater resistance and stability in heavily mineralized ground suit geological work carried out in difficult natural terrain.
