Onboard imaging shows a target's size and depth on screen before the shovel ever touches ground.

The GTI 2500 takes a different approach than the ACE lineup: instead of a single Target ID number, its Graphic Target Imaging (GTI) system runs the signal through an onboard DSP chip and displays the target's estimated true size — on a scale from A (smaller than a coin) up to E (larger than a soda can) — alongside its depth, right on the LCD.

A Graphic Target Analyzer reads conductivity and, for coin-sized hits, will suggest a probable denomination. ScanTrack and Ground Track work in the background, adjusting automatically to how fast you're swinging the coil and how ground mineralization shifts underfoot, while the 9.5" PROformance Imaging coil runs through 24 discrimination segments across six modes — All Metal, Zero, Jewelry, Relics, Coins, and a Custom slot you set yourself.

Power comes from 8 AA batteries, and rather than mount them on the shaft, Garrett includes a Hip Mount Battery Pack that moves that weight to your belt — a real difference over a long session. A Salt Elimination Aid also cancels the false signals that wet salt sand throws at most detectors on the beach.
