Sitting at the top of the i-series lineup, the ACE 400i swaps the concentric coils used on the 200i and 300i for an 8.5" x 11" DD PROformance coil — the same coil pattern found on Garrett's higher-end AT series — run through a 10 kHz adjustable frequency.
That wider DD pattern is the real story here: it separates overlapping targets better in ground littered with foil, nails, and bottle caps than a concentric coil can. Iron Audio backs it up with a distinct tone for discriminated iron, so you can hear a target is junk without stopping to dig it, while still catching the borderline signals worth a second look.
Five search modes, adjustable frequency, and enhanced iron resolution carry over from the 300i, and a 0-99 Digital Target ID paired with non-motion pinpointing and Graphic Target Analyzing gives intermediate detectorists the feedback a mid-range machine needs to deliver.
