The Equinox 800 keeps the same simultaneous Multi-IQ platform that made the 600 popular, then adds a dedicated 20/40 kHz gold mode, a wider ferrous discrimination window, 8-step recovery speed, and wireless headphones in the box — still rated to 3 meters underwater.
This is Minelab's fully-specced Equinox: simultaneous Multi-IQ multi-frequency operation paired with a purpose-built gold mode, so the same machine handles coin, relic, and jewelry sites one weekend and mineralized prospecting ground the next.
Six single frequencies — 4, 5, 10, 15, 20, and 40 kHz — let you dial in to a specific target type instead of relying on Multi-IQ alone, and recovery speed runs from 1 to 8 so you can pull separated signals out of trash-dense sites rather than one blurred tone.
It's fully waterproof to 3 meters (10 feet), which covers riverbeds and wading depth at the beach, and it ships with low-latency aptX Bluetooth headphones plus the WM 08 wireless module, so audio stays fast and clear with no cable in the way. The LCD screen's backlight is adjustable for early starts or overcast light.
Four search modes — Park, Field, Beach, and Gold — each carry two customizable profiles, eight in total. Park is built for gardens and junk-heavy public ground, Field trades a bit of depth for better discrimination on farmland and historic sites, Beach leans on Multi-IQ to keep wet, salty sand from throwing false signals, and Gold pushes sensitivity up using the 20 and 40 kHz frequencies for mineralized ground.
Key Features
Dedicated Gold Mode
Runs at 20 and 40 kHz specifically to pull in fine, small gold that lower frequencies tend to miss.
Multi-IQ Technology
Processes multiple frequencies at once automatically, so you're not manually hunting for the right setting.
Waterproof to 3 Meters
Submersible to 3 meters (10 feet), covering rivers, lakes, and wading depth at the beach.
Bluetooth + WM 08 Audio
Low-latency aptX headphones and the WM 08 module ship in the box for wireless audio with no lag.
50-Segment Target ID
Fifty discrete segments give finer separation between similar signals than a coarse ID scale allows.
Adjustable Recovery Speed
Dial from 1 to 8 to pull clean signals apart in iron- or trash-dense ground.
Up to 12-Hour Battery
The internal battery runs a full detecting day, roughly 12 hours, before it needs a charge.

Who Should Use the Minelab Equinox 800?
Intermediate to advanced detectorists who want a dedicated gold mode
You get a purpose-built gold setting rather than a general mode adapted for prospecting, so results stay consistent on gold ground.
Gold prospecting in mineralized ground using frequencies up to 40 kHz
The 40 kHz frequency reaches fine, small gold in mineralized soil that a single 5 or 15 kHz setting typically overlooks.
Searching rivers, lakes, and beaches with reliable waterproofing
Full submersion to 3 meters means you can wade rivers or work the wash zone without babying the coil or control box.
Professional coin, relic, and jewelry hunting
Six switchable frequencies and 50-segment ID give the discrimination precision serious relic and coin hunters need on cluttered ground.
